PDFMacGillivray Freeman Films To Donate A Portion Of Box Office Sales From Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk 3D To Build Much-Needed Wells in Africa - MacGillivray Freeman Films, producers of the new
3D giant screen water conservation film Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk 3D today announced a program to donate a portion of the film’s box office sales to build much-needed wells in Africa. More than one million children die each year in Africa from a lack of safe drinking water.

The producers will donate $1 for every ticket sold on both World Water Day (March 22) and Earth Day (April 22) towards building enough wells to benefit thousands of African school children. MacGillivray Freeman Films Educational Foundation will work with Ryan’s Well Foundation to build the wells at schools in northern Uganda, where decades of conflict have been devastating to children’s everyday lives. The mission of the Ryan’s Well Foundation is to provide clean water (e.g. deep or shallow wells, and rainwater harvesting tanks), improved sanitation (latrines and handwashing stations) and hygiene education to local communities including children. Funds raised for this program will be matched by Ryan’s Well Foundation so contributions will have twice the impact. (Spring, 2008)

Students helped paint a giant New Orleans and wetlands-themed mosaic
On opening day of Hurricane on the Bayou at the Irvine Spectrum (California), students helped paint a giant New Orleans and wetlands-themed mosaic that said, “We Care!” which was disassembled and sent to a school in New Orleans.  The mosaic was greeted with many tears by the kids of New Orleans, who, the school’s principal told us, did not realize that so many from so far away did care!   The Foundation worked with artist and water advocate Wyland of Laguna Beach to create the mosaic.  (click images for larger view)
