One World Ocean

“If we don’t shake people up now with what’s happening to our oceans, we’re not going to have the same magical oceans left in forty years.  “Marine scientists predict that by 2050 there will be no more large fish left in the ocean if we don’t change our relationship with the sea. I want One World Ocean to be a major vehicle for that kind of change.  I feel more passionate about this project than any others I have ever worked on.”

                                                --Director Greg MacGillivray

  • An IMAX Film, Feature Film, 6 Part TV series
(1-hour episodes on each ocean, Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic, Antarctic, and world ocean).
  • 4 years of production to be released in 2015
  • Photographed for 3D and 2D venues

Filmed in 40 locations around the world using today’s most advanced camera system technologies, One World Ocean will be an epic series designed for giant screen, IMAX 3D, television, theatrical 3D release, web series and companion books and other media.   Shot over four years beginning in 2010, One World Ocean will utilize 15/70mm, HD-3D, and RED Camera 3D cinematography to yield the most breathtaking locations and marine wildlife behavior ever captured on film in three dimensions. The more than 6 hours of programming in multiple formats will be anchored by a 40-minute 3D IMAX Theatre film.

A major social action campaign will be at the heart of the One World Ocean multi-media initiative geared towards driving global support for better management of our oceans.  The legendary oceanographer Sylvia Earle is a key advisor to our project, who said that this series should ”ignite public support for a global network of marine protected areas, hope spots large enough to save and restore the ocean, the blue heart of the planet.”  Today, less than one percent of the ocean is protected.
